Dear AEA Community,

As we settle into the fall season, I want to take a moment to share some updates and highlights from across our AEA community. October has been a busy and rewarding month filled with learning, collaboration, and continued progress toward our shared goals.

First, a heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us for our recent Parent University: Navigating Immigration Rights session. It was an important and meaningful conversation focused on helping families understand their rights within the school system, including student confidentiality and access to education. I’m grateful to our guest speakers — John Lemmo (Young, Minney & Corr, LLP), Felix Sanchez (Union Law Group), Richard Barrera (Vice President, San Diego Unified School District), and Maria Ortega (President, AEA Board of Trustees) — for sharing their time and expertise. The thoughtful questions and engagement from parents and staff made the session especially impactful.

I’d also like to share an update regarding our CNRI site, which will soon become our high school campus. A chain-link fence has been installed as the construction team prepares to begin work. While the exact start date for construction is still being finalized, we expect progress to begin in the coming months. We’ll continue to provide updates during our Board Meeting on November 18 and in future communications.

This week, students had a half day for parent-teacher conferences, and I want to thank all the families who took time to meet with teachers and discuss student progress. These connections are essential to supporting student growth and success.

A few upcoming events:

  • School Site Council (SSC) and English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) meetings on October 28
  • Friends of AEA Trunk-or-Treat on October 24 from 4:00–6:00 p.m. at President’s Lawn in Balboa Park
  • Middle School Fall Festival on October 31

Thank you, as always, for your continued support and involvement. Our schools are stronger because of the commitment and care of our families, staff, and students. Together, we’re building a safe, welcoming, and inspiring environment where every child can thrive.

Sincerely,

David Sciarretta, Ed. D.,

Greetings AEA Families,

Thank you to all who participated in our Fall Conferences! It was wonderful to see so many families on campus connecting with teachers and celebrating student learning. A big thank-you also to everyone who supported our Book Fair—your participation directly helps fund new books and resources for our school library.

On Friday, November 3rd, we will have a Professional Development day. Students will not report to campus on this day. This day is designed to give our teachers dedicated time to strengthen key elements of our program. Staff will participate in professional learning with Benchmark Education to support our English Language Arts and English Language Development programs, as well as with the San Diego County Office of Education to deepen our work around social-emotional and behavioral supports.

We are also looking forward to our Annual Lantern Festival on Tuesday, November 12th! This special celebration will include a whole-school morning event on the field, followed by an evening celebration at Balboa Park. This has been a long standing AEA tradition and we look forward to celebrating with our AEA community.

In addition, our next Spirit Day will take place on Thursday, November 21st, when students can show their school pride by wearing their Field Day colors.

As the weather begins to change, please remember to label all outerwear with your child’s name. Sweaters and jackets should be navy blue and may only display the AEA logo—no other logos or designs, please. Boots should only be worn during rainy weather for safety reasons.

Thank you, as always, for your partnership and support. We are looking forward to a joyful and productive month ahead!

Dear AEA Families,

As we close out October, I extend my sincere gratitude for your participation in Parent Conferences. Your collaboration and commitment make a meaningful difference in your child’s learning and growth.

A friendly reminder that daily, on-time attendance is essential for student success. If your family is experiencing any challenges that may affect attendance, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our front desk or contact aschaffer@aeacs.org. We’re here to help ensure every student has the opportunity to thrive.

We’re also thrilled to share some exciting news — construction has officially begun on the new Albert Einstein Academies Charter High School (AEACHS)! This marks a major milestone for our community as we expand our International Baccalaureate continuum. Our current 6th graders will proudly become the AEACHS Class of 2032, the very first graduating class of our new high school. See some pictures below.

In the coming months, there will be construction crews that will begin demolition of the current building. This may affect traffic patterns over the next few years. You can click here to see plans for the future AEACHS

We are incredibly fortunate to see this long-awaited project come to life. Funding for both the new high school construction and the elementary school renovations comes entirely from voter-approved bond measures passed in recent years. We are deeply grateful to our community for its continued support—and to Dr. Sciarretta for his years of dedicated service representing AEA on the committee responsible for allocating these funds.

While AEA is one of a few charter schools benefiting from these voter-approved measures, we are especially thankful for the opportunity they provide to enhance our learning environments and support our students’ future. Please note that these construction funds are completely separate from AEA’s operational budget and do not impact our programs, staffing, or daily school operations.

To celebrate the season and our wonderful community, we will have our first annual Fall Festival on October 31st! Please click here for more information. It will be a fun and festive afternoon filled with games, activities, and school spirit — a great way to wrap up a busy and joyful month together. Thank you to Mr. Vozzolo and Ms. Haness for spearheading this event.

Reminder on November 3rd, 2025. This is a pupil-free day while our staff engages in a full day of professional development.

Our 6th-grade camp is coming in December! We highly encourage all 6th-grade families to participate. Please access the information here or reach out to Mr. Cota for more information  Francisco Cota

The sports season is officially underway! Our volleyball and football teams have started strong, showcasing school spirit and determination. Please continue to cheer them on and remind students to check the Athletics website.

Thank you for your continued partnership and support of Albert Einstein Academies. Together, we are building a bright future for our students and community

We also encourage you to stay connected with your child’s grade-level team:
