Dear AEA Families,

This morning at approximately 8:45 a.m., our fire alarm system was unexpectedly triggered. As they had practiced during yesterday’s planned fire drill, our students and staff evacuated the building quickly and calmly.

AEA immediately contacted the district to report the alarm issue, and technicians were dispatched to work on the alarm panel. While the system was being serviced, the alarm was triggered a few additional times. At those points, classrooms were notified by radio not to evacuate, as there was no emergency.

We want to assure you that at no time was there any danger or concern of an actual fire. However, we recognize that some students may have been unsettled by the repeated alarms and have questions. Teachers have addressed this with their classes to provide reassurance, but we wanted to keep families informed as well.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support as we work with the district to ensure our alarm system is fully operational.

Esta mañana, aproximadamente a las 8:45 a.m., nuestro sistema de alarma contra incendios se activó inesperadamente. Tal como practicaron durante el simulacro de incendio planificado de ayer, nuestros estudiantes y personal evacuaron el edificio de manera rápida y calmada.

AEA se comunicó de inmediato con el distrito para reportar el problema con la alarma, y técnicos fueron enviados para trabajar en el panel de control. Mientras se realizaba el mantenimiento, la alarma se activó algunas veces más. En esos momentos, se notificó a los salones por radio que no evacuaran, ya que no había ninguna emergencia.

Queremos asegurarles que en ningún momento hubo peligro ni preocupación de un incendio real. Sin embargo, reconocemos que algunos estudiantes pudieron haberse sentido inquietos por las alarmas repetidas y tener preguntas. Los maestros ya han abordado esto en clase para dar tranquilidad, pero también queríamos mantener informadas a las familias.
