Dear 5th Grade Families,

Today, it was reported that a 5th grade student had a BB gun in his backpack. Administration immediately investigated the situation and confirmed that there was no threat to students or staff.

Because our fire alarms were also unexpectedly triggered today, we want to reassure you that these two events were unrelated and that at no time were students in danger.

We recognize that recent news events have many of us on high alert, and that situations like these can feel confusing or unsettling for children. Teachers have spoken with students to reassure them that school is a safe place and that the adults on campus are always here to protect them.

Dado que nuestras alarmas contra incendios también se activaron inesperadamente hoy, queremos asegurarles que estos dos eventos fueron independientes y que en ningún momento los estudiantes estuvieron en peligro.

Reconocemos que las noticias recientes nos tienen a muchos en estado de alerta y que situaciones como estas pueden resultar confusas o inquietantes para los niños. Los maestros hablaron con los estudiantes para tranquilizarlos, recordándoles que la escuela es un lugar seguro y que los adultos en el campus siempre están aquí para protegerlos.
