Important Safety Message from Superintendent Sciarretta

Dear AEA Parents:
If you arrive on either of our campuses this week you may notice the presence of security officers. As I mentioned last week in a letter to the community, we remain committed first and foremost to the safety and security of all students and staff. The decision to contract with temporary campus security staff was made in response to a June 14 incident on the AEACES campus wherein an individual forced their way onto the campus lower playground area despite it being closed to visitors and engaged with staff in a verbally and physically aggressive and threatening manner. Thankfully AEA staff were able to diffuse the situation and convince the individual to leave campus, at which time San Diego Police were called.
This type of interaction will not be tolerated on either of our campuses at any time. Despite this unfortunate incident I hope that this increased level of security will allow us to focus our collective attention on finishing the 2021-2022 school year in a joyful and celebratory manner.

Estimados padres de AEA:
Si llega a cualquiera de nuestros campus esta semana, puede notar la presencia de oficiales de seguridad. Como mencioné la semana pasada en una carta a la comunidad, seguimos comprometidos ante todo con la seguridad de todos los estudiantes y el personal. La decisión de contratar personal de seguridad temporal del campus se tomó en respuesta a un incidente ocurrido el 14 de junio en el campus de AEACES en el que una persona ingresó a la fuerza al área de juegos inferior del campus a pesar de que estaba cerrada para los visitantes y se enfrentó con el personal de una manera verbal y físicamente agresiva. y manera amenazante. Afortunadamente, el personal de AEA pudo calmar la situación y convencer a la persona de que abandonara el campus, momento en el que se llamó a la policía de San Diego.
Este tipo de interacción no se tolerará en ninguno de nuestros campus en ningún momento. A pesar de este desafortunado incidente, espero que este mayor nivel de seguridad nos permita centrar nuestra atención colectiva en terminar el año escolar 2021-2022 de manera alegre y festiva.
