Dear AEA Community,
I want to extend my sincere gratitude to our families, teachers, and staff for your incredible support and dedication as I serve as your interim superintendent. Your commitment to our students' success is evident every day, and I am especially grateful for your continued partnership in prioritizing regular school attendance. When children attend school consistently, they build strong relationships with peers and teachers, engage in crucial hands-on learning, and stay on track for long-term academic success. Every classroom experience is a step toward a complete, well-rounded education, and your encouragement at home makes all the difference in keeping our students present and engaged.
At the same time, it is vital to recognize the direct impact daily attendance has on our entire district. Beyond missed classroom lessons, frequent absences directly affect our school system's financial resources. Much of our funding is tied directly to daily attendance metrics. When a student misses school—even for an excused absence—our district loses revenue that directly funds classroom supplies, support staff, extracurricular opportunities, and facility maintenance. By working together to ensure our children are in class every day, we protect both their individual educational futures and the essential resources that support our entire school community.

Dear Families,
I am thrilled to share some wonderful updates about our campus that will directly enrich your children's daily experience at school! First, our brand-new library is officially open and ready for our students to explore, discover new books, and foster a lifelong love for reading. Additionally, we have completed installation of new padded safety flooring on our playground, giving our kids a safer, more vibrant space to play and stay active during recess.
Looking ahead, we are also gearing up for another major milestone: our new building will be fully ready to welcome our Kindergarten through 2nd-grade students this coming January! This state-of-the-art facility will provide bright, modern learning spaces tailored specifically to our youngest learners. Thank you for your continued support and enthusiasm as we grow and improve our campus. We cannot wait for your children to enjoy all these fantastic new spaces!

Dear AEA Families,
Thank you for your continued involvement in your student's educational journey. We have been fortunate to host several events across both campuses so far this school year and look forward to providing even more opportunities for family engagement. To everyone who attended our Open House, Greet and Eat with the Principals, Town Hall, and Lotería Night, thank you for your participation and support.
As we look ahead to October, we are excited to offer additional events at the middle school, including High School Night on October 8, our IB Showcase and Preview Night on October 14, Parent-Teacher Conferences during the week of October 19, and, hopefully, another Fall Festival for our students at the end of the month.
Our students have already demonstrated tremendous growth in both academics and behavior this school year, and we greatly appreciate your partnership in supporting their success. As always, please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions, concerns, or feedback. We are committed to strengthening our connection with families and building a true partnership focused on student achievement and well-being.

Student Expectations
At AEACMS, we believe in fostering a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment. When behavior concerns arise, our staff responds with a focus on reflection, restorative practices, and support to help students learn from their choices. We encourage all families to review our expectations outlined in the Student Handbook and continue to review expectations with your children.
When issues arise, we have several ways to communicate information, which are outlined below.

Avant Language Assessment
Last year, students participated in the Avant Language Assessment. This test measures proficiency in reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Strong performance can qualify students for high school world language credit, recognizing their existing skills and allowing them to advance more quickly in their language studies. We will have students continue this assessment in the spring. Students in German will also continue to be assessed on the DSD as we have for many years.

Pick-up & Drop-off Logistics
Elementary School
AEA is committed to keeping our students safe and being a good neighborhood partner.
Our families must obey traffic rules or risk citations.
We need our families to follow the crucial protocols below:
- Refrain from blocking our crosswalks with your vehicle.
- Refrain from blocking our neighbors’ driveways.
- Do not move our neighbor’s trash cans.
- Do not double park to drop off or pick up your children.
- Legally park and walk your student in through the front gate on A Street.
Vehicle drop-off and pick-up are at our A Street Back Gate ONLY.
Middle School
For student drop-off and pick-up, we kindly ask families to use the rear of the school whenever possible. While we understand the front entrance may feel more convenient, it quickly becomes congested. Please remember to slow down and avoid double parking, as this creates a backlog that can spill onto Market Street and cause traffic jams.
The San Diego Police Department is regularly in the area and may issue citations for double parking or obstructing the normal flow of traffic. Your cooperation helps keep our students safe and traffic moving smoothly.

This meeting is available in-person or remotely via Zoom and live stream. Live Spanish Interpretation will be provided, and ASL Interpretation will be provided upon request.

AEACMS High School Informational Night

Presenters: Yvonne Torres, Neighborhood School and Enrollment Options Manager from San Diego Unified and various representatives from local high schools
Dear 8th Grade Students/Families,
Albert Einstein Charter Middle School invites you to attend our annual High School Information Night on Thursday, October 8, 2026, from 5:00 - 7:00pm on campus/in person for our 8th grade students and families. Parents and students are welcome to attend. For School Choice options under the San Diego Unified School District for the 2027-2028 school year, parents/guardians must submit an online application from Monday September 22 through Monday November 3, 2026. We hope you will join us for this event that is designed to support families and students in making the appropriate high school placement decision. We will begin with a general session about Enrollment Options, then families/students will be able to attend 4 different informational sessions regarding programs at the participating high schools.

AEACMS International Baccalaureate (IB) Showcase/Preview Night

We are excited to invite you to our International Baccalaureate (IB) Showcase/Preview Night on Wednesday, October 14th! This is a wonderful opportunity to see the amazing work our students have been doing, including assignments and projects they have completed this year
Event Schedule:
- 5:00–5:30 PM – Reserved for new prospective AEA families (MPR)
- 5:30–6:30 PM – Open to current AEA families in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade
Please keep in mind that this event is not for parent-teacher conferences, which are scheduled for October 19th to October 23rd. You will receive additional information from your grade-level leads regarding conferences.

Did you know that AEA has staff who can help you access mental health and special education services? If you have questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us. Our staff will be able to help you with initiating services in school or they will connect you to an outside agency to help meet the needs of your student and your family.
