Elementary School Principal

Dear Elementary Families,

It is with great excitement that I introduce myself as the new principal of Albert Einstein Elementary! I am truly honored to join this wonderful community and look forward to partnering with you to support our students’ growth and success.

While I hope to meet each of you personally, I understand how busy family schedules can be. To ensure we have a chance to connect, I will be hosting a Virtual Meet & Greet via Zoom shortly after we return from Spring Break. I am currently finalizing the date and will target an early evening time slot to accommodate working schedules. Please keep an eye on your inbox for that invitation in the coming weeks.

In the meantime, my door is always open. If there is anything you would like to discuss one-on-one, I encourage you to reach out via email or phone to arrange a meeting.

Thank you for entrusting us with your children. I am deeply committed to providing them with a warm, safe, and inclusive environment where every student and every family feels they belong.

I look forward to our journey together!

Warmly,

Jorge Mora, Principal

Dear AEA Families,

Thank you for your continued partnership this week during our Spring Conferences and for your ongoing investment in our students’ growth and success.

As a reminder, Albert Einstein Academy will be closed for Spring Break from March 23 through April 3. Classes resume on Sunday, April 6.

Upon returning from break, students will begin CAASPP preparation, with state testing scheduled to begin the first week of May. Students participating in the German Exchange will begin testing the week prior to their departure. To support your student’s best performance, please ensure they are well rested and arrive having eaten a full meal. For students who need it, complimentary breakfast is available each morning in the Cafe/MPR.

With approximately two months remaining in the school year after break, this is an important stretch for all of our students. 8th grade families, please see below for details regarding promotion events.

In addition to CAASPP, all 8th grade students will complete the AVANT Language Assessment. Students who earn a composite score of 3 or higher may qualify to receive high school language credits, consistent with San Diego Unified School District’s world language requirements and earn California’s Biliteracy attainment recognition based on the following criteria iindicated on CDE’s site.

We also want to thank you to all our families that were able to attend our dance unit presentations either in person or virtually. Recording can be attained by contacting our PE team.

Athletics and More

Our boys’ and girls’ basketball seasons are coming to an end, with two of our teams deep in the championship hunt.  Soccer tryouts are completed, and games will begin the second week of April. Please be on the lookout for the schedules.  Our students who completed the My 1of1 design studio will receive their clothing soon, and a showcase night is in the works for late April.  In May, there will be a community event where students, staff, families, and local businesses can come together to celebrate AEA.

International Exchanges & Student Travel

As we step into 2026, we’re getting closer to our exciting departure to Germany (April 29–May 15)—and we couldn’t be more excited.

We’re also proud to kick off our brand-new AEA Global Explorers program, with Madrid as our first 2026 destination. And as a special addition to AEA Global Explorers, as a meaningful blend of cultural exploration and service learning. More to come…

Thank you for your continued partnership and support. We wish our students and families a positive, productive, and successful Semester and New Year!

Student Expectations

At AEACMS, we believe in fostering a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment. When behavior concerns arise, our staff responds with a focus on reflection, restorative practices, and support to help students learn from their choices. We encourage all families to review our expectations outlined in the Student Handbook and continue to review expectations with your children.

Avant Language Assessment

Last year, students participated in the Avant Language Assessment. This test measures proficiency in reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Strong performance can qualify students for high school world language credit, recognizing their existing skills and allowing them to advance more quickly in their language studies. We will have students continue this assessment in the spring. Students in German will also continue to be assessed on the DSD as we have for many years.

For more information about the assessment, visit Avant’s website.

Pick-up & Drop-off Logistics

Elementary School

AEA is committed to keeping our students safe and being a good neighborhood partner.

Our families must obey traffic rules or risk citations.

We need our families to follow the crucial protocols below:

  • Refrain from blocking our crosswalks with your vehicle.
  • Refrain from blocking our neighbors’ driveways.
  • Do not move our neighbor’s trash cans.
  • Do not double park to drop off or pick up your children.
  • Legally park and walk your student in through the front gate on A Street.

Vehicle drop-off and pick-up are at our A Street Back Gate ONLY.

Middle School

For student drop-off and pick-up, we kindly ask families to use the rear of the school whenever possible. While we understand the front entrance may feel more convenient, it quickly becomes congested. Please remember to slow down and avoid double parking, as this creates a backlog that can spill onto Market Street and cause traffic jams.

The San Diego Police Department is regularly in the area and may issue citations for double parking or obstructing the normal flow of traffic. Your cooperation helps keep our students safe and traffic moving smoothly.

When: Wednesday, April 8, 2026 at 5:30PM
Location: Albert Einstein Academy Middle School Campus
Presenter: Guided discussion by panelists

In-Person RSVP Link:  RSVP Here

Description: Friends of AEA has provided the financial support needed to host a free screening of this documentary for our AEA community, followed by a guided discussion. This free event is open to all AEA families TK-8. Childcare and a light dinner will be provided.

Are you watching kids scrolling through life, with their rapid-fire thumbs and a six-second attention span? Physician and filmmaker Delaney Ruston saw that with her own kids and learned that the average kid spends 6.5 hours a day looking at screens.

Through insights from authors, psychologists, and brain scientists, Screenagers: Growing Up in a Digital Age Edition reveals how tech time impacts kids’ development and offers solutions for empowering kids to navigate the digital world and find balance. This film explores the impact of screentime on children and offers solutions on how we can help children find balance. In addition, Screenagers discusses how families can minimize the harmful effects of screen time.

See the trailer here: Screenagers: Trailer
*The film will be in English with Spanish subtitles*
