Dear AEA Families:
You may have heard that San Diego County was recently removed from the state-wide COVID watchlist due to the fact that locally the rates of infection continue to drop and remain on a downward trend. This is positive health news for our region, and California Governor Newsom has released preliminary guidance for gradually re-opening select businesses and institutions such as schools. We expect additional details from the Governor’s office this Friday, August 28.
As of today we remain in Phase One of the AEA Teaching and Learning Plan, meaning that all students are learning in a virtual distance capacity. The AEA Board of Trustees will discuss the topic of moving to subsequent re-opening phases at their next meeting on September 8, 2020. This meeting starts at 2 pm PST and will be held virtually. Click here to access the meeting agenda (within 72 hours of the start of the meeting) along with information on addressing the Board. As with all AEA Board meetings for the 2020-2021 school year we will have simultaneous Spanish translation available.
As a parent myself I recognize the importance this topic holds for our students, families and staff. Rest assured that we will continue to balance the community’s understandable eagerness to return to traditional in-person instruction with the health and safety of everyone involved. Seguramente ya habrán escuchado que el condado de San Diego salió recientemente de la lista estatal de vigilancia por COVID debido a que a nivel local, las tasas de infección continúan disminuyendo y se mantienen en una tendencia a la baja. Esta es una noticia positiva de salud para nuestra región, y el gobernador Newsom de California ha publicado una guía preliminar para reabrir gradualmente empresas e instituciones seleccionadas tales como las escuelas. Estamos esperando información adicional de la oficina del gobernador este viernes 28 de agosto.
El día de hoy, estamos en la Fase Uno del Plan de Enseñanza y Aprendizaje de AEA, lo que significa que todos los estudiantes están tomando clases a distancia de manera virtual. La Mesa Directiva de AEA hablará en su próxima reunión del 8 de septiembre de 2020 sobre cómo pasar a las siguientes fases de reapertura. Esta reunión comienza a las 2 pm PST y se llevará a cabo virtualmente.
