Travel and Gathering Advisory from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
Dear Parent/Guardian:
As we approach the holiday season, many families may be planning to travel or get together with friends or relatives outside of their immediate family. We understand how important these connections and activities are during the holidays. As you make your plans, please keep in mind that following all relevant county, state, and national guidelines relating to gatherings and travel can help prevent you and your loved ones from getting sick. This means that it’s important to wear a mask, wash your hands, and practice physical distancing wherever you go, and stay home if you’re feeling sick.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has put together a list of considerations to help protect individuals and their families, friends, and communities from COVID-19 around the holidays. These include knowing the community levels of COVID-19 in the community where you’re gathering as well as where attendees are coming from; the location of the gathering; and the behaviors of those gathering. A full list of things to consider is available on the CDC website.
San Diego County is following the California Department of Public Health requirements for gatherings. At this time, gatherings should be limited to no more than three households and should be held outdoors. All attendees should follow the standard hygiene protocols noted above.
Public health officials are also encouraging all individuals to avoid unnecessary travel, especially if you or someone in your family is at increased risk for severe illness from COVID-19. If you plan to travel, please review the CDC’s travel considerations before you go. Upon returning from travel, the CDC recommends individuals maintain physical distancing, wear a mask while in public, wash their hands, and monitor their health for symptoms of COVID-19.
If you return from any high-risk areas and believe you or a family member may have come in contact with someone who is COVID-19 positive, please contact your health care provider and/or get tested.

Asesoramiento sobre viajes y reuniones de los Centros para el Control y la Prevención de Enfermedades (CDC)

Al acercarse la temporada de fiestas, muchas familias pueden tener planes para viajar o reunirse con amistades o parientes fuera de su familia inmediata. Sabemos que estas conexiones y actividades son importantes durante las fiestas. Al hacer sus planes, tenga en mente que el observar todas las directivas relevantes a nivel local, estatal, y nacional en cuanto a reuniones y viajes pueden ayudar a prevenir que usted y sus seres queridos se enfermen. Esto significa que es importante el uso de mascarillas, lavado de manos, y mantener la distancia física a donde quiera que vaya, así como quedarse en casa si se siente enfermo.
Los Centros para el Control y Prevención de Enfermedades (CDC) ha emitido una lista de consideraciones para ayudar a proteger a las personas y a sus familias, amistades, y comunidades de COVID-19. Esto incluye evaluar los niveles actuales de COVID-19 en la comunidad en donde piensan reunirse; y el comportamiento de los que asistirán a la reunión. El Condado de San Diego está observando las directivas del Departamento de Salud Pública de California (CDPH) para reuniones privadas (página disponible en español). Actualmente, las reuniones privadas no deben de incluir más de tres hogares y deben tomar lugar al aire libre. Todas las personas asistiendo deben observar los protocolos básicos de higiene enlistados anteriormente.
Los oficiales de salud pública también piden a todas las personas que eviten los viajes innecesarios, especialmente si usted o alguien en su familia tiene un riesgo elevado de enfermarse severamente de COVID- 19. Si tiene planeado viajar, por favor consulte las consideraciones (en español) para viajes del CDC antes de salir. El CDC también recomienda que al regresar de su viaje las personas deben guardar distancia física, usar mascarilla en lugares públicos, lavarse las manos, y monitorear su salud para síntomas de COVID-19 (en español).
Si regresa de una zona de alto riesgo y cree que usted o un miembro de su familia pudieron haber estado en contacto con alguien que ha dado positivo para COVID-19, favor de contactar a su proveedor de salud y/o hágase la prueba de COVID-19.
