Today we held a productive meeting of the AEA Finance Committee.  This was preceded by planning sessions by our leadership team with technical support from ExED.  The Finance Committee will lead a discussion at the May 12 Board of Trustees meeting, focusing on possible State funding cuts and their overall impact on AEA’s budget for 2020-2021 and into the future.  An article in today’s Los Angeles Times underlines the unprecedented fiscal crisis our State is experiencing, one that will inevitably impact AEA just as it will impact all school districts and charter school organizations. Governor Newsom addressed the topic of the California budget in a press conference earlier today, calling on the Federal government for more assistance.

In the midst of this great uncertainty, today we continued supporting families with technology resources as well as food.  By the end of this week we will be closing in on 35,000 free meals distributed to date.

On May 12 at 4:30 pm PST the AEA Board of Trustees will meet virtually.  Click here to access the agenda and live-streaming link within 72 hours of the meeting date and time.

Stay safe, stay healthy.
