Dear AEA Families:
Estimados Padres de Familia de AEA:
It is with a heavy heart that I write this letter. By now you have doubtless heard of the deadliest shooting in U.S. history that took place last night in Las Vegas. While there are endless investigations and news stories forthcoming, we will never fully understand what drives an individual to such horrendous acts. This is an affront to civil communities across the globe, and our hearts go out to all those impacted. As an IB community and more importantly as a caring community, we must now more than ever draw together in kindness and mutual support as we teach our students that such acts of evil are an aberration and do not define us.
Escribo este mensaje con todo el dolor de mi corazón. Sin lugar a dudas, estoy seguro que en este momento ya están enterados del tiroteo más mortífero en la historia de los Estados Unidos que tuvo lugar anoche en Las Vegas. Mientras se llevan a cabo infinidad de investigaciones y revelan más información, nunca entenderemos que es lo que lleva a una persona a cometer estos actos horrendos. Es una afrenta a la población de todo el mundo y estamos de corazón con todos aquellos que fueron afectados. Siendo una comunidad IB pero mayormente una comunidad solidaria, ahora más que nunca debemos de ser más amables y apoyarnos mutuamente y enseñar a nuestros alumnos que tales actos malévolos son una aberración que no nos define como personas.
For the sake of our students and the parents who trust us with their care, I want to emphasize that AEA is a safe and nurturing place to grow and learn. As always our entire staff is committed to supporting students and answering questions that may arise about the events of Las Vegas in an age-appropriate manner. Our team of counselors and psychologists is also standing by to support individual students should they need it.
Por el bien de nuestros alumnos y padres de familia que nos confían el cuidado de sus hijos, quiero enfatizar que AEA es una comunidad segura donde los niños pueden crecer y aprender. Como siempre, nuestro personal esta comprometido para dar apoyo a los alumnos que lo necesiten y responder a sus preguntas de acuerdo a su edad sobre el incidente de Las Vegas. Nuestro equipo de consejeros y psicólogos están muy pendientes y dispuestos a dar apoyo a cualquier alumno que lo necesite.
At this challenging time may we all draw strength from the mission of AEA and its focus on shared humanity.
En este momento tan difícil, espero que saquemos toda la fuerza necesaria de la misión de AEA y de su enfoque sobre nuestra humanidad compartida.
