Albert Einstein Academies is proud to be an official German Partner School. (PASCH) since 2008. The title is awarded by the German federal department of schools abroad. As a PASCH school AEA is able to share expertise with other schools outside of Germany that have similar German language programs.

Elementary German Program

Albert Einstein Academies encompasses two public charter schools, AEACS (k-5) and AEACMS (6-8). AEACS features a German/English immersion program.

In grades Kindergarten to five, 50 percent of the total instruction time including core subject instruction is taught exclusively in the German language. German and English instruction rotates weekly and is continuous. In this model an academically challenging learning environment is provided which brings children from two different language groups together to learn from and with each other in an integrated setting. In opposite weeks both immersion languages become the vehicle of instruction for all subjects offering students the opportunity to acquire a well-rounded language proficiency in both languages.

Books and Dictionaries

We highly encourage you to spend time reading German books with your students. Our library has largely expanded their German book selection over the summer. We do have books on CD and many different reading levels that your child can chose from. We would like to stress that all students should have access to a German dictionary at home.

There is a good online German- English dictionary called "Leo" at www.leo.org. If you do not have access to a computer or prefer a paper dictionary we suggest for our older students Langenscheidt's German/English dictionaries available at local book stores. Our younger students will greatly benefit from a German/German dictionary. We will have a selection of German-German dictionaries recommended for our immersion students available at the book fair in December. Click here for a recommended German reading list.
